The Laser Institute Appoints Shaun Oleson as Executive Director

Orlando, FL – November 8, 2024 – The Laser Institute (LIA) has announced the appointment of Shaun Oleson as Executive Director-Designate, set to fully assume responsibilities as Executive Director on January 1, 2025. This strategic leadership transition follows a November 3rd vote by LIA’s Board of Trustees. Until January, Oleson will work closely with Interim Executive Director Gil Haas to ensure operational continuity.

Shaun Oleson, who joined LIA in 2009 and most recently served as General Manager, has been instrumental in expanding LIA’s reach and strengthening its industry impact. With a strong background in information technology, business intelligence, and organizational strategy, Oleson has driven advancements in LIA’s educational programs and reinforced the Institute’s fiscal sustainability, positioning it for continued leadership in laser applications and safety.

As Executive Director, Oleson’s goals include strengthening LIA’s industry partnerships, enhancing the value of LIA membership, fostering innovation in laser applications, and promoting laser safety. His commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth will be vital as LIA continues to serve as the central hub for collaboration among technologists, researchers, and safety professionals in the laser industry.
