Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in laser and photonic solutions that Make, Manage, and Measure Light®, premiered the new Vision IsoStation vibration isolation workstation during the CLEO/QELS exhibition at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, CA, May 18-20, 2010. The Vision IsoStation offers high performance and has more user-friendly features and accessories than any other isolation workstation. Designed to improve ease-of-installation, set-up and lab space utilization, the workstation is available with platform sizes from 24 in. x 24 in. up to 36 in. x 72 in. to accommodate the widest range of applications.
The Vision IsoStation will be available in two load capacities, 500lb gross and 1,300lb gross, delivered by Newport’s high-performance I-125 and I-325 Series pneumatic isolators. Both versions reduce transmitted vertical and horizontal vibrations by 85 percent or more after 5Hz and by more than 95 percent after 10Hz.
“Some consistent comments we received from customers while conducting our market research were that they wanted a system that was easy to install, set-up and offered new accessories and storage options,” comments Warren Booth, Vibration Control Group Product Manager. “We listened very carefully to the needs of our customers and believe the Vision IsoStation will meet all of their needs, both current and future.” He continues, “Some of the unique features of our new system are the integrated casters and new shipping package that not only reduces packaging materials but also allows users to simply roll their system into their lab, making it as plug-and-play as can be! Since the breadboard is shipped pre-installed on the frame, customers no longer need to lift the heavy breadboard during installation.”
The workstation features a unique platform interface that acts as a docking surface, an accessory mount and a restraint to keep the breadboard atop the frame. This same interface is used to couple multiple Newport accessories or allow users to connect their own “home-built” accessories. The interface also features float-height indicators and frame-bubble levels to make set-up, installation, and system relocation even easier. For added safety and convenience, these features combine with integrated leveling feet and casters which are standard on all versions.
The Vision IsoStation family, designed specifically for modern scientific and biological investigations, includes several new instrumentation and accessory storage options:
Vision Overhead Shelf – A new overhead shelf system has height and location adjustment, optional electrical outlets and hanging shelves. The shelf also features a 200lb load capacity and front and rear raised edges to protect expensive instrumentation.
Vision Side Shelves and Worktables – A new offering of flexible side-storage shelf systems and side worktables improve space utilization and organization. The adjustable side shelves are perfect for smaller instruments and accessories including fluidics, probe storage, or optics. The side worktables provide superior workspace for sample preparation, component assembly or reference materials that do not require an isolated surface. Both of these new accessories can also be used in conjunction with the overhead shelf to maximize accessory storage and organization.
Accessory Platforms – A new desktop computer shelf, articulated keyboard shelf, flat panel monitor mount, and joystick shelves help maximize organization and help minimize the overall size of the platform. With these new accessories, users may opt for a 30 in. x 36 in. platform instead of the previously-required 36 in. x 48 in. workstation.
New Air Compressor – Newport’s recently released ACWS air compressor is ideal for use with the new Vision IsoStation. Compact and ultra-quiet, it offers workstation users a fast-filling and low-cost air supply without the need for large capacities delivered by traditional air compressors.
