Laser Additive Manufacturing’s Vast Potential to be Showcased
in Houston, TX – May 11-12, 2010
Laser Institute of America’s second-annual Laser Additive Manufacturing (LAM) Workshop will be gathering industry specialists from around the world on May 11-12, 2010 in Houston, TX, with the goal of applying this “state-of-the-art” process to today’s manufacturing challenges.
Additive manufacturing is a very broad topic area and at this point is hot in a number of industries. Lasers’ low heat and precision mean a world of possibilities and efficiencies for additive manufacturing, and LIA assures that the show will “have a significant impact on the widespread industrial implementations.”
Join us to hear LAM Plenary speakers Dr. William Steen from The University of Liverpool share his thoughts on laser additive manufacturing and Ingomar Kelbassa from RWTH Aachen University, Germany discuss how laser metal deposition (LMD) and selective laser melting (SLM) can repair and salvage high-value aero-engine components. Lastly, Dave Abbott from GE Infra, Aviation will also be on-site with his presentation on “Standards on Additive Manufacturing.”
